Wicked Stepmother

A Virtual Support & Psychoeducation Group for Stepmothers in Maryland and Virginia

Being a stepmother can feel messy, complicated, and lonely. You’re building relationships without a roadmap, navigating big emotions, and often carrying a role that no one fully prepares you for.

Join us this Fall/Winter for a 10-week virtual group designed to help you manage stress, set boundaries, strengthen your identity, and most importantly—find community with women who get it.

If you’ve been searching for stepparenting support in Maryland or Virginia, Wicked Stepmother is for you.

Being a stepmother can be one of the most rewarding—and most complicated—roles in a family. Whether you’re blending households, navigating new relationships with stepchildren, or balancing parenting roles with your partner, it’s common to feel overwhelmed, isolated, or unsure of how to move forward.

Wicked Stepmother is a 10-week virtual support group designed specifically for women who identify as stepmothers or are partnered with someone who has children. This small, supportive community (limited to 10 participants) offers a safe place to share experiences, learn practical tools, and connect with others who truly understand the challenges of stepmotherhood.

Through guided support and psychoeducation, participants will learn how to manage parenting stress, set healthy boundaries, communicate effectively with their partners, and build meaningful connections with their stepchildren—all while prioritizing self-care and finding strength in community.

If you’ve been searching for stepmother support in Maryland or Virginia, this group is here to remind you: you don’t have to figure it out alone.

Frequently Asked Questions about Wicked Stepmother

1 / Who is this group for?

This group is open to adults who identify as women and who are stepmothers or are partnered with someone who has children. Whether you’re brand new to the role or have been navigating stepmotherhood for years, you’re welcome here.

2 / Do I have to live in Maryland or Virginia to join?

Yes. At this time, the group is open to residents of Maryland and Virginia due to state licensing laws for therapy services. If you live outside of these states, feel free to reach out—I’d be glad to connect you with other resources and am always curious to know where else we could expand services with appropriate licensure.

3 / How is this different from individual therapy?

Individual therapy provides one-on-one support tailored to your unique circumstances. A group therapy setting adds something powerful: community. In Wicked Stepmother, you’ll not only gain tools and psychoeducation—you’ll also connect with other women who truly understand what you’re going through.

4 / How many people are in the group?

The group is limited to 10 participants in order to foster safety, intimacy, and genuine community.

5 / What will we do in the sessions?

Each 90-minute session combines support, reflection, and psychoeducation. You’ll learn skills for:

  • Managing parenting stress

  • Setting healthy and loving boundaries

  • Communicating effectively with your partner

  • Building relationships with your stepchildren

  • Caring for yourself while caring for your family

You’ll also have space to process the complex emotions that often come with stepmotherhood, and to share openly with other stepmothers in a safe, supportive environment.

6 / How much does it cost?

The full program is $750 prepaid for all 10 weekly sessions. Prepayment helps establish consistency and structure within the group.

7 / Why is a consultation call required?

Before joining, we’ll schedule a brief consultation call to ensure the group is the right fit for your needs and goals. This helps maintain a supportive and safe environment for all participants.

8 / Is this group confidential?

Yes and no. Sessions take place on a HIPAA-compliant telehealth platform, and all participants agree to maintain group confidentiality. However, it's impossible to guarantee that what This allows everyone to share openly and safely.

9 / When does the next group start?

The Fall/Winter 2025 start date is TBD. Once the group is full, we’ll finalize the schedule together.
