Accelerated Resolution Therapy in Northern Virginia
At The Relationship Studio we offer Accelerated Resolution Therapy, or ART, for residents of Northern Virginia, including Loudoun and County and Fairfax County.

Accelerated Resolution Therapy is a bilateral stimulation therapy that treats persistent and problematic issues in structured, directed sessions. It can be an important part of individual therapy if you've been impacted by traumatic events that are just too overwhelming or too strong to overcome in traditional talk therapy.
ART is an evidence-based treatment backed up by the National Institutes of Health for use with trauma and PTSD.
Created in 2008 by Laney Rosenzweig, ART is a non-invasive and rapid treatment for trauma and other very persistent mind-body problems.
Like EMDR, ART uses bilateral stimulation via eye-movements or tapping, but there are more differences than similarities: ART does not require as much pre-treatment preparation, takes far fewer sessions, and does not run the risk of re-traumatization through discussion of traumatic incidents. Moreover, ART's creative reprocessing can actually make the process of healing trauma fun—if you can believe it.
ART has been used successfully in clinics and research labs with the following issues and more:

-
Disturbing memories;
-
Flashbacks and nightmares;
-
Long-standing, haunting childhood trauma;
-
Impacts of physical, emotional, and sexual abuse;
-
Long-standing phobias;
-
Anxiety regarding conflict and self-assertion;
-
Cravings, including addictive substances such as alcohol and nicotine;
-
Grief and acceptance;
-
Breaking habitual, physically engrained patterns of behavior that are no longer helpful.

A Note on Accelerated Resolution Therapy Session Length
There's nothing worse than feeling rushed through your healing process. Due to the specific procedures involved in an ART session, I do not schedule ART sessions for less than 90 minutes to ensure that we have enough time to fully complete the protocol.
