Individual Therapy in Northern Virginia
Here at The Relationship Studio I provide individual therapy for residents of Northern Virginia, including Fairfax and Loudoun.

Are you feeling chronically stuck, overwhelmed, and down-and-out? Maybe you suffer from chronic worrying, dissatisfaction, or disorganization. Or perhaps you've gone through some harrowing experiences that you've never really recovered from. No matter your story or circumstances, life doesn't have to feel this way.
I offer traditional psychotherapy as well as Accelerated Resolution Therapy to improve your mental health, relationships, and quality of life. Let's team up to help you find the resilience, courage, and confidence that you need to do your very best.
Change can be scary, and sometimes we can't even envision how things could be different.
The prospect of starting therapy can elicit lots of emotions: you might feel relieved, afraid, nervous, excited, and doubtful all at the same time. Therapy can seem really mysterious, especially if it's your first time, so I want to let you know what you can expect from me:

-
A safe and nurturing space. No one feels safe enough to change if the environment isn't supportive, encouraging, and free of judgment. It's just scientific fact;
-
Someone who really listens;
-
Expertise to help you better understand yourself and others;
-
The opportunity to grow your socio-emotional toolkit. We'll work on everything from stress to interpersonal conflict to existential dread.

However, what really turns all of this into a magical healing elixir is the addition of two more ultra-necessary ingredients: (1) that you feel like your therapist is a good fit, and (2) that you are open and willing to try something new. Add all this together and you're on your way to a more joyful, fulfilling, connected life.

Since science has shown for decades that the relationship between you and your therapist is the most important factor in effective psychotherapy, please feel free to schedule a consultation with me at the link below. If we're a fit, then amazing! And if not, I am more than happy to offer referrals to other trusted professionals who may be the right match for you.
I like to say the our first few appointments are "getting to know you" sessions. I'm gathering information about you, your history, goals, strengths, and challenges—and you're getting a feel for my style so you can make sure I'm the right therapist for you.
After that we'll check in and figure out where we're trying to go with all this therapy. It would be hard to go on a journey without knowing your desired destination, right?

Now, here's where the work can really begin! I'm the kind of therapist who's really active—I'll rarely just sit back in my chair, nod and say "mm-hmm," and take mysterious notes that I never share with you. We'll develop tools, we'll do somatic work (aka work with how your body holds both the barriers and solutions to your problems), I'll tell you what I've noticed and see if I'm getting it right (sometimes I am, sometimes I'm not!), and we'll laugh and cry and rage and celebrate your wins and successes all along the way.
